Corrections Policy

Last updated: July 11, 2026

Our Commitment

We try hard to get things right the first time — but no publication is error-free. When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly, and we do not quietly make significant errors disappear. Being correctable is part of being trustworthy.

What Counts as a Correction

  • Factual errors — a wrong number, date, name, product model, recommendation, or misattributed source. These are corrected as soon as they are verified.
  • Outdated information — content that was accurate when published but has been superseded by new research or official guidance. These are handled as updates: the content is revised and the modified date changes.
  • Typos and formatting issues — fixed silently; they do not change the meaning of the content.

How to Report an Error

If you spot something wrong anywhere on this site, tell us — we genuinely want to know:

Please include the page URL and what you believe is incorrect. A source for the correct information helps us verify faster.

What Happens Next

  • We review every report against primary sources.
  • Safety and recall content is fast-tracked. Reports about recall pages or safety guidance are reviewed with priority, ahead of everything else in our queue.
  • Verified factual errors are corrected on the page itself, and the page's updated date reflects the change.
  • If we cannot verify the report, we may reply to ask for more detail — or leave the content as is.

How Corrections Appear on Recall Pages

Recall pages are a special case because the underlying official record can change after we publish:

  • When an agency such as the CPSC updates a recall (for example, expanding the remedy or adding affected models), our system detects the change, and the page returns to editorial review before the updated version is published.
  • Updated recall pages show an "Updated" badge and a "Source updated" date, so you can see the record has changed.
  • Recall pages are never deleted — they remain as a permanent, dated reference even after a recall campaign ends. Always verify the current status via the official agency link on each page.

How recall coverage is produced end to end is described on the MPB Safety Desk page.
