GOPO Toys Recalls Pull String Teething Toys Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Choking; Violate Mandatory Standard for Toys
By MPB Safety Desk · Reviewed by Faruk Talmaç
Hazard
The recalled teething toys violate the mandatory standard for toys because the silicone strings are smaller and longer than permitted. The strings can reach the back of children's throat and become lodged, posing a serious risk of respiratory distress and deadly choking hazard.
What parents need to know
This recall involves GOPO Toys pull string teething toys. These toys are designed with an off-white disc and a gray center ball, featuring six multi-colored silicone pull strings that resemble tentacles. The disc also has seven soft push buttons.
The toys have been recalled because the silicone strings are a different size than permitted by the mandatory toy safety standard. This means the strings can extend too far into a child's throat, creating a serious risk of choking and breathing difficulties.
If you have one of these teething toys, please stop using it immediately and remove it from your child's reach. You should consult the official recall notice for detailed instructions on how to receive a full refund.
