By MPB Safety Desk · Reviewed by Faruk Talmaç

Hazard

The recalled dive sticks violate the federal dive sticks ban because they exceeded the compress limit, posing an impalement hazard. In shallow water, children may fall or land on a dive stick, resulting in serious piercing injuries. Facial and eye injuries are also possible when children attempt to retrieve the sticks underwater.

What parents need to know

Joyin is recalling Sloosh dive sticks, which are part of Sloosh water toy packages. These dive sticks are made of hard plastic and are cylinder-shaped, measuring about 7 inches long and 1 inch or less in diameter. They come in various colors.

The dive sticks were recalled because they exceed federal limits for compression, creating a risk of serious injury. If a child falls or lands on a dive stick in shallow water, there is a hazard of impalement. There is also a risk of facial and eye injuries if children try to retrieve the sticks underwater.

Parents should immediately stop using these dive sticks and remove them from children's reach. Please refer to the full recall notice for specific instructions on how to receive replacement dive sticks that meet federal safety standards.
