Hazard

The recalled baby loungers violate the mandatory safety standard for Infant Sleep Products. The sides are too low to contain an infant and the enclosed openings at the foot of the loungers are wider than allowed, posing serious risks of fall and entrapment hazards to infants. In addition, the baby loungers do not have a stand, posing a fall hazard if used on elevated surfaces. These violations create an unsafe sleeping environment and can cause death or serious injury.

What parents need to know

This recall involves Macardac baby loungers. These loungers are made of a foam sleeping pad with padded bumpers and a cloth cover, featuring a buckle at one end. They were available in blue, brown, brown leaves, and pink flower colors and prints, with "Macardac" printed on an attached tag.

The loungers have been recalled because they violate the mandatory safety standard for infant sleep products. The sides are not high enough to keep an infant contained, and openings at the foot of the lounger are wider than permitted. These design flaws create risks of entrapment and falls. Additionally, the loungers lack a stand, increasing the fall hazard if placed on elevated surfaces. These issues can lead to serious injury or death for infants.

If you own a recalled Macardac baby lounger, please stop using it immediately and contact Macardac Products for a full refund. The refund requires destroying the product first: remove the foam and pads from the cover, cut the cover, foam, and pad in half, and email photos of the destroyed pieces to the recall contact address given in the official notice.
