Missry Associates Recalls Misco Sports Light-Up Racket Sets Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Battery Ingestion; Violate Mandatory Standard for Toys
By MPB Safety Desk · Reviewed by Faruk Talmaç
Hazard
The racket sets violate the mandatory standard for toys because the screw on the racket used to secure the battery compartment does not remain attached when opened, and the button cell batteries in the shuttlecock can be easily accessed by children. If button cell or coin batteries are swallowed, the ingested batteries can cause serious injuries, including internal chemical burns, and death.
What parents need to know
Missry Associates is recalling its Misco Sports Light-Up Racket Sets. This product is a toy set that includes rackets and a shuttlecock.
The recall is due to a violation of safety standards for toys. The screw that secures the battery compartment on the racket can come loose, allowing children to access the button cell batteries inside the shuttlecock. If swallowed, these batteries can cause severe internal chemical burns and can be fatal.
Parents should immediately stop using the racket set and keep the shuttlecock away from children. Please refer to the official recall notice for detailed instructions on how to receive a full refund.
