OKK Trading Recalls Easter LED Headbands Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Battery Ingestion; Violate Mandatory Standard for Toys
Reviewed and published by MPB Safety Desk
Hazard
The recalled headbands violate the mandatory safety standard for toys with button cell and coin batteries because the lithium coin batteries can be accessed easily by children, posing an ingestion hazard. When button cell or coin batteries are swallowed, the ingested batteries can cause serious injuries, internal chemical burns, and death.

What parents need to know
This recall involves Easter-themed LED headbands with decorative ears, sold in several colors and styles, that light up using small button cell or coin batteries.
The headbands are being recalled because they do not meet the mandatory safety standard for toys containing button cell or coin batteries: the lithium coin batteries can be accessed easily by children. If a child swallows a button cell or coin battery, it can cause serious injuries, internal chemical burns, and death. This makes it important not to let children continue playing with the headbands.
Parents and caregivers who have one of these headbands should stop letting their child use it right away. Contact OKK Trading to arrange a refund. As part of the process, you will be asked to email a photo showing the headband properly disposed of in the trash before the refund is issued.
When disposing of the batteries themselves, keep in mind that button cell batteries are hazardous. They should be disposed of or recycled by following your local hazardous waste procedures.
