Play Yard and Crib Mattresses Recalled Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Entrapment and Fire Hazards; Violate Mandatory Standards for Mattresses; Sold on Amazon by Voomf
Reviewed and published by MPB Safety Desk
Hazard
The recalled mattresses violate the mandatory safety standard for crib mattresses because the mattresses may not adequately fit certain play yards, posing a deadly entrapment hazard. Babies can suffocate in gaps between an undersized mattress, or extra padding, and side walls of a product, especially when the infant's face becomes trapped against the side and the mattress, preventing the infant from breathing. Furthermore, the full-sized crib mattresses violate the mandatory flammability standard for mattress sets, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fire.

What parents need to know
This recall involves Voomf-branded play yard mattresses and crib mattresses sold as aftermarket bedding for babies. These products were intended to provide a sleep surface for infants in play yards and cribs.
The mattresses are being recalled because they do not meet mandatory federal safety standards. The play yard mattresses may not fit properly inside certain play yards, which can leave gaps between the mattress and the sides of the product. If a baby's face becomes trapped in one of these gaps, it can block their ability to breathe, creating a serious entrapment and suffocation hazard. Separately, the full-sized crib mattresses do not meet the required flammability standard, which means they pose a fire risk that could lead to serious injury or death.
Parents and caregivers who have one of these mattresses should stop using it right away. Contact Voomf to arrange a full refund. As part of the process, you will be asked to destroy the mattress by writing "Recalled" on it in permanent marker, then cutting the play yard mattress in half or cutting the full-sized mattress cover diagonally across its entire length using scissors. You will then need to send a photo of the destroyed mattress to Voomf's recall email address before disposing of the product according to your local or state disposal rules.
