What parents need to know

This recall involves Jalapeno Avocado Dressing from Salata Dressings of Houston, TX. It was sold only in HEB grocery stores in Texas, between July 13 and August 5, 2026, in a 12 oz plastic bottle with a black cap. Affected bottles carry a Best By date of 11/05/2026, 11/13/2026, 11/18/2026 or 11/25/2026, printed at the top of the label.

The dressing had the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. The company recalled the product after its supplier reported that the diced jalapenos used in it may have been contaminated with Salmonella and possibly associated with a multistate outbreak that the FDA is currently investigating.

For a household with children, the practical point is that this risk is not limited to the person eating a salad: young children are one of the groups the notice singles out as most vulnerable, and that includes any food prepared with the dressing for them. Consumers who bought the dressing at HEB are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. For complete details, please refer to the official recall notice.
