Vitaquest International Recalls Multiple Iron Supplement Bottles and Packets Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Poisoning to Young Children; Violates Mandatory Standard for Child-Resistant Packaging

The dietary supplements contain iron, which must be in child-resistant packaging as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. The packaging of the supplements is not child-resistant, posing a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children.
What parents need to know
Vitaquest International is recalling several brands of dietary supplements that contain iron: Arey, Bari Life, Bird&Be, Biote, Dr. Fuhrman, NuLife, HMR, Bariatric Pal, Noevir, Zenbean and Sakara. The list includes a children's multivitamin (Dr. Fuhrman Pixie Vites), a kids' instant latte (Zenbean Kids Café) and several prenatal products. These products are being recalled because their packaging is not child-resistant.
Products that contain iron must be sold in child-resistant packaging under federal law (the Poison Prevention Packaging Act). Because this packaging is not child-resistant, there is a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if young children swallow the contents.
