YITA Recalls Multiple Brands of Dressers Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Tip-Over and Entrapment Hazards; Violates Mandatory Standard for Clothing Storage Units
Reviewed and published by MPB Safety Desk
Hazard
The recalled dressers are unstable if they are not anchored to the wall, posing tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in risks of serious injuries or death to children. The dressers violate the mandatory standard as required by the STURDY Act.
What parents need to know
YITA is recalling several brands of dressers, including Dextrus, ModFusion, Uforic, Yintatech, and Yitahome. These are 16-drawer dressers sold in various colors with metal frames and fabric drawers.
The recalled dressers have been found to be unstable if not anchored to a wall. This instability creates a risk of tip-over and entrapment, which can lead to serious injuries or death for children. The dressers do not meet the mandatory safety standard for clothing storage units.
If you have one of these dressers and it is not anchored to the wall, please stop using it immediately and move it to a location where children cannot access it. You should then contact YITA for a full refund. The recall instructions require consumers to write "RECALL" on the dresser with a permanent marker, disassemble it, and submit a photo of the disposed product.
